Tittle : Dragon Keeper (Dragon Keeper #1)

As a fan of fantasy fiction, I have to admit I cannot get enough of that genre. So when I saw this book, I definitely told myself "I have to read it, no matter what!". It was also my first time reading a China based fantasy story, so I was kind of sure that it would "freshen" me up. I read the translated version of Dragon Keeper however I don't think there would be a significant difference in reviewing the whole story.
The story is set in China where a slave girl named Ping saved a long time tortured and abused imperial dragon, Long Danzhi from his cruel master, Lan. The first few paragraphs of the story is very convincing however as you read it, it turns out to be slower and slower.
As the story goes, I found out that the book doesn't represent China at all. A dragon in Chinese culture is a sacred, loved and respected however this book portrays them as being exploited, bred or even cooked in delicacies? Quite absurd! This is enough to summarize that Dragon Keeper is not Chinese fantasy. It's a Western version of a dragon!
It turns me off, to be honest as I had a great expectation for this book. If you want to read about Chinese version of a dragon, then this may not be the right story for you. I am sad that because of this, I may not bother to read the next books.
Have you read Dragon Keeper? Did you like the story?
