Middle Grade Books for Those who Hate Middle Grade Books

Yeah, I am talking to you. Yes you, who believe you're too cool for children's books. Admit it, once in a while you're tired of reading complex book, or even better, you're tired to be an adult. We have so much responsibilities, reading children's book won't reduce them. Relax, my friends! The perks of being an adult is we get to act on what we think is good for us. Children's book is good for you, well at least they'll remind you how innocent we were once.

This post is written for you, tired folks. Set aside your complex read for a while and try to enjoy these sweet treats. Let me assure you something, though they're meant for younger readers it doesn't mean they're the dumber version of books you usually read. These five books listed below are proofs that they're to be taken seriously.

This book was the one which dragged me into the middle grade world. A story about a 12 year old girl named Lily and her 5 year old autistic brother, Adam. I don't know much about autism, but this book got me hooked and I am amazed with how realistic the story is.

One of the creepiest ghost story I have ever read. I mean, who would have thought a children's book could scare me? This one did a lovely job. An ancient house, spooky family and a gardener that only wakes up at night. Ah, the last time I heard. they're going to film this. How cool is that!

Another horror book, sets in 1950s of Canada. Yeah, you read that  right. They do make historical horror for children! See, kids get to read cool books, too. To be honest, I found it scary too and the ending, wow, I never see that coming. Grab it now, you won't regret it.

I've just read it recently. Don't let cover fool you, anyway. If you look at it, you'll picture a funny book with a grumpy girl as the main character. This book is much much serious than that. And it has a kind of dark story waiting for you inside. The grumpy girl is far from grumpy. She's one of the most responsible character in children's books I've read. Moon Pie deals with alcoholism and how it affects a family. A must read, even adults can learn something from this.

Grab this series if you are looking for a good innocent laugh. Written based on popular fairytales, these princes are ready to change their fate and open up the mind of the readers. They are not what we think they are this series is here to prove it. I even am still giggling while writing this. Seriously, chase the bad mood away and pick this one up!
