Review : The Hero's Guide to Storming The Castle by Christopher Healy

Tittle : The Hero's Guide to Storming The Castle (League of Princes #2)
Author : Christopher Healy
Publication date : April 30, 2013 by Walden Pond Press

Oh, I've been wanting to review this book for ages! It's the second installment of The League of Princes series which I adore, and to tell you the truth, I couldn't resist myself from picking it up immediately. The first book,  The Hero's Guide to Saving Your Kingdom was very impressive. Though it's meant for younger readers, it appeals to me perfectly. Well, sometimes you need a light and fun book, right, especially after reading books with complex plot, it's nice to give your brain a break.

Since Liam is unwelcome to be back home, he lives with Ella and Frederick in Harmonia. Days are full of combat training between Ella and Liam and it makes Frederick, well, a little jealous. One night, out of the blue, Liam is being kidnapped, by his fiancee, Briar Rose. The spoiled brat princess wants to force marry Liam to show everybody that the world revolves around her. Add the bandit king Deeb Rauber and the ruthless foreign warlord Rundark, (oh, don't forget the man-eating eel) and you'll get the point.

My first impression of The Hero's Guide to Storming The Castle was like "man, this is just as good". Well, ladies and gentleman, my first impression was absolutely right. This book is equally adventurous, humorous and the best thing is, the characters develop perfectly and they keep on making surprise scenes. Well, in this case, I love being surprised.

The books is thick enough, I guess. Don't worry though, with Healy's superpower, you won't get bored with this book. I reached the last page before I knew it and I was a bit annoyed because I have to wait until April to find out what happen to these so called princes *sighs*

Let's talk about the characters! My favorite is still Prince Duncan. He reminds me of a genius geek with very few friends. It's kind suits him perfectly, because the only friends he's got were Liam, Gustav, Frederick and Ella. I like the way he names animals every time he sees them, which is hilarious. Oh, I like Briar too, I know she's annoying, but she's one of the strongest character and her development is amazing and surprising.

Time for a favorite quote! This time it's from our loveliest Duncan
"You're awfully far from the theater, aren't you?" the bodyguard said. "You look lost."
"And you," Duncan replied, "look like a pineapple."
"What are you doing here?" Jezek asked, growing quickly impatient
"Answering your question."
It cracks me up everything I read it! 5 rating for The Hero's Guide to Storming The Castle. I highly recommend this to those of you who are a little tired reading serious book (honestly, I picked this series because I was exhausted after reading the fourth book of The Song of Ice and Fire). This book is such an instant mood improver. Your turn, do you read any funny books lately?
