I only read one. See, when it comes to reading, I can be a sucker, too. You know, I often browse Goodreads famous users who reads like 200 books per year and I wonder what their secrets are. Do they have this super power lightning speed reading skill, or are they paid to read books, what? The most I read in one year is 48 books, which is in 2012. Mind you, I was on maternity leave and my newborn was the calmest baby ever, so I had more time to read.
So, I started to find the answer myself. Maybe they read more than one book at a time. Book juggling, how cool is that! And I tried. Believe me I tried. All it was screwing my focus. I once picked up Pillars of The Earth (three years ago, more or less) and since it is a long story, I thought I could read it along with other books. It's 2016 now and I haven't finished it. I always end up abandoning one book or the other!
Oh, not to mention that it makes my Goodreads update looks so ugly. You know, the "read from" date would show that it took me let's say 4 whole months to finish one particular book. Yeah, as if I have this curse of always finding lame books because it took me forever to finish it. Granted, reading speed isn't something to brag about, still I don't feel like humbling my self that way (if you can call it 'humbling', that is)
So, this method is clearly not for me. If you can do it, more power to you! I believe it's so cool to finish more than one book in one go, but then again, I am not a multitask person. I guess I'd just read one book and focus on it instead of juggling them then lose my concentration altogether.
Be honest! Do you have this superpower or reading many books without losing your focus? What's the recipe, please share so hopefully we can learn that precious skill, too!
