Confessions of a Myopic

I am a myopic, I pretty much can't see something afar. Being myopic is annoying, so if your eyes are still working fine, be extremely grateful! I actually have this problem all my life, I guess but I was too careless. I thought my eyes are constantly watery, thus the blurry visions. I had no dizziness either so I thought my visions were just fine.

Yep, until eye strain finally hit me. It. Was. Not. Fun.

I used to wear glasses like 7 years ago. I stopped wearing them because I didn't think it was the right power for me. I just walked in to the optical store and got my eyes checked, it was simply one of the biggest mistakes in my life. I ended up four-eyed and still with blurry vision. I can say I was half blind for the past 7 years. So, a few months ago, I decided that enough is enough. My eyes are getting older and literally causing me embarrassment at work because I couldn't read anything on the screen during a meeting.

So I went to the doctor again, and voila my sight were indeed getting worse. My right eye is -3 and the left is -2.5 no wonder I couldn't see anything more than 10 er... 5 feet in front of me. I am stuck with glasses for the rest of my life. Hey, glasses now are cool, look at the various styles of frames they sell nowadays! Yeah, they're cool, I know. I even am so crazy of the cat-eye specs and it's on my wishlish.

Still, wearing glasses is a burden. Yesterday I went swimming with my co workers and realized that I couldn't wear my glasses there, unless I don't mind it being broken. So, yay, half blind again! I do have contacts that I bought for fun but for Heaven's sake I can't stand wearing them for more than 4 hours or they'll start to feel really dry and uncomfortable. I am not suppose to wear them to the swimming pool too, right. So yeah, I had no choice.

Let's just say that this post is my way of reflecting my envy to those of you with healthy eyesight. Take care of them, seriously. Well, since myopia is hereditary, I am so scared that my daughters someday share the same fate as me. Wearing glasses is not fun, no matter how funky it looks. They fog whenever you eat hot steamy food, they are not realistic for doing sports and if you live in a hot country like mine, sweaty nose is your worst enemy.

Now let's talk about your eyes. They say they're the window to your soul, speaking of which, how are those precious pairs of yours? Are you lucky enough to have a clear vision or are you one of us, who are not so lucky and stuck with glasses for the rest of your life?

I totally understand you! I wear glasses many years now too. I wear contacts whenever I can, but I'm so bored of the whole process!

Bored is an understatement, right? I think "annoyed" in my case, is more suitable xD Do you find contacts comfortable, Konstantina?
Not really comfortable, but I can wear them for a few hours. But there are mornings that my eyes are just too tired to wear contacts.
Yikes! I couldn't imagine not being able to see for so long. I've been wearing glasses since I was 3 so about 16 years now. I'm so used to my glasses that it doesn't really bother me anymore. I have contacts as well but I don't wear them. I have severe mixed astigmatisms meaning one of my eyes is nearsighted while the other is farsighted. I literally wouldn't be able to see straight without my glasses!

Ugh.. tell me about it! I thought there was nothing seriously wrong with my visions and didn't really care about it because I don't drive or do anything that requires super pairs of eyes. I was the biggest fool!

Even though it's still feel like a burden to me but I feel so much better with it, no dizziness and no eye strain whatsoever. Now that's the first time I hear about eyes condition like yours! What's your favorite frame shape, anyway? :)
I usually go with a squared pair but I did go through a harry potter( circular) phase for a while :P
Yep, im a glasses wearer too. Isn't swimming just the worst?! And getting rain on your glasses such a pain. I switch between wearing mine and contacts as my optician said it's not good to wear contacts 24/7 to preserve your eye health. Ive got sauare black frames at the moment but sometimes I get sick of the 'geek chic' look and then I go back to contacts!

Arrgh... swimming is indeed the worst not to mention hot and steamy food =/

Mine's square purple, and I actually like the geek chic look but since my face is very small there's no way I could pull it off. A real bummer!
LOL. I wear one ever since I was 11 and I can't imagine life without em now. I am ok with it, except when it is hot and I got sweaty and then it will slid to the tip of your nose while cleaning the litterboxes. Also scuba diving and snorkelling is out of the question because everything is just a blur. While some people do wear contacts when going snorkelling, I would most probably get seawater in my eyes which would be worse.
