Gosh, I guess I haven't posted for ages and I miss blogging so bad! I think I have to learn more about time management. I really wish I could write more regularly but my day job is very time demanding, especially in the beginning of every month, sometimes I am just too exhausted to write a post. However, since this is a new year, I think it's a good time to make a new resolution. I want to be a better blogger and please wish me luck! *grins*
Alright, enough jibber jabbers. Let's talk about The White Forest. I am having a difficulty in writing a short summary for this book, to be honest, but I am going to try my best, anyway. If I could describe this book in one sentence, it would be " a triangle love story combined with cult and an ape".
I know it's doesn't make any sense.
Let me try again, then *clears throat*
Jane Silverlake has this gift of hearing the soul of man-made objects. Though her friends were fascinated by it, she still thought her talent was annoying. A best friend of her, Nathan Ashe was reported missing after seeing Jane and she believed she has something to do with his disappearance. Jane, along with her another best friend, Maddy did anything they could to find Nathan, with the help of Jane's talent. Not too long after the search began, they found out that Nathan was involved with a dangerous cult that might cause him his life and Jane had to act, before it was all too late.
I believe that The White Forest will be one of my most favorite book of 2014. It's beautifully crafted, dark enough to give me the chill, and it's very exciting that I couldn't put it down. The story itself is set in 19th century which adds even more mystery, which the author described in a very nice way that left me ooh and ah. Jane is a very interesting character and also very real. She's the best example of how a girl with no real friends during childhood would turned out to be. She started as a weak and helpless girl, but as the story goes, she grew into a powerful one, making all the developments were worth waiting for.
The beginning of the book was a little bit slow, though, but is bearable. If you intend to read this book, please give it a little time, because the best part of the book is only a few chapters away. And the ending, well I adore it! It's a perfect bittersweet mixture and it's one of my favorite book ending so far. Oh, here's my favorite quote of The White Forest:
"You have your mother's heart. She thought the whole world was going to fall apart more than once, I'll tell you. But the world never broke. She was always strong enough to keep it whole. You are too."
If you are looking for an unusual genre to read, you cannot go wrong with this book. It has bits of everything, friendship, love, betrayal, even apes! If you are a fan of any of the things I mentioned earlier, by all means, give this book a try. 5 rating for The White Forest, without a doubt.
Now, have you read The White Forest, or any books that contains apes?
