You know, it took me quite long to finish this book. I didn't realize the many pages it consist of. A good thing, I suppose, because it means it's a real page-turner. Finishing this book also felt like swallowing a good meal to me, fulfilling and satisfying.
If I could describe this book in one word, it would be "crazy". Yes, because the writer didn't let me, as the reader to sit down nicely and savoring the book. This is not the kind of book you read in a rainy day with hot chocolate to accompany you.
It won't work, trust me. It's a crime book, what can you expect?
Lisbeth is now in the hospital for recovery. She feels helpless, she has no access to computer, she can't do hacking. On the other hand, her trial is about to come. Mikael is doing whatever he can to help her meanwhile Sweden's top criminals just won't stop getting in the way.
Compare to the previous books, The Girl Who Kicked The Hornet's Nest contains less action which is obvious because Lisbeth is hospitalized. Having said that, less action doesn't mean the plot isn't as interesting. It is very engaging, in fact and I admire Larsson's ability in creating a very complicated crime case into something worth reading to a non crime reader like me.
"He was good at riddles and he was unmatchably stubborn. She had found that out in Hedestad. When he sank his teeth into something he simply would not let go.
Now, as for the ending, I have to admit that I love it. I bet all of you have known that this series has the fourth book now. The trilogy ending is good, however it doesn't discount the probability of the fourth installment (except for the passing of the original author) and I am glad that there's one author who have written Lisbeth's new story.
I do have something that stuck in my mind ever since I started reading this book. How does this Blomkvist dude really look like? How handsome is he? What does he eat for breakfast? I mean, gosh, he attracts all women without doing any effort at all. This man makes Don Juan looks like a noob, really. Well, from what I know, a playboy usually has these traits : good looking, super seducing skill, thick wallets and impressive talent in bed. Blomkvist, he doesn't seduce women for fun, but women are chasing him like he's the only male in the planet. I. Dont. Get. It.
Enough Blomkvist talk. 5 rating for The Girl who Kicked The Hornet's Nest. It's a very good story, with good characters, ended with a satisfying closure (for the trilogy). Grab it now, you won't regret it. How about you? Read any book with a Don Juan character? How was it?
