Hello everyone! I hope you're doing great. We Indonesians celebrate mother's day this month, so I thought, why not make an early mother's day post? As a mother myself, I can say that being one isn't easy but it's the most rewarding duty ever. Having a child is like buying a new electronic device without receiving a manual book. I was overwhelmed, I thought I couldn't do it.
The hardest part for me is when my children are sick. The guilt will strikes from every direction and when you're at work, it's hard to focus on your task knowing that your children are waiting for you to come home and comfort them. This is also make me so envious with stay at home moms.
Before having a child, I had what they call a freedom. I traveled to the neighboring city whenever boredom strikes, I shopped till I dropped, money was never a problem. Heck, I only had to fund myself! Now, these are a long lost hobbies or should I say, "escapism" because my life was so bland it had nothing special whatsoever.
I still shop for fun, though with caution and calculation because now I am also responsible for my children. I don't travel anymore either. Though, I promise myself that when my kids are older, we're going to show them around. Being a mother teaches me that the world doesn't revolve around my (boring) self. Sometimes, it's like I don't really matter, only the kids matter but hey, I don't mind at all!
The biggest lesson I get from being a mother is if you do it right, it surely brings out the best in you. You'll learn how to be patient, protective and of course, strong. Now, enough serious talk. I find this witty picture on my Facebook feed last year. I had to dig, but since it was so unforgettably accurate, I thought I had to share:
Gosh, I hope my husband doesn't think I sit on the couch while eating popcorn all day! So, let's have chats. Do you have any children? How many? What's the biggest lesson you've learned on being a mother?
