First of all, let me clarify this to you: there's no dancing involved in this book, let alone one that features a dragon. So, if you read Eragon in the past, well, this book isn't something like it. I checked my Goodreads account a few minutes ago only to find out that it took me 3 whole months to finish it. Phew! No wonder I was exhausted!
A Dance with Dragons picks up a stories of the characters that didn't appear in the third book. The whole Westeros is in a mess. Tyrion fights for his life in a foreign land while at The Wall, Jon has to take difficult decision as a Commander. To be honest, as usual, I cannot sum it up *laughs* It's too complex and I don't want to bore you with it.
After reading more than 1100 pages, I can say that there isn't much progress happens in A Dance with Dragons. People meet their enemies, fight their battles, characters do this, characters go somewhere, yes, just like that. What I want is an important event, but I didn't find anything significant. As I have said before, my soul is already attached with this series, so maybe I was hoping too much?
Jon Snow becomes more and more charismatic. He's older and wiser, making him a very interesting character. In the other hand he's so tense, especially among people who don't like him. I believe he needs to relax (well, relax isn't in The Wall's dictionary it seems like). Meanwhile, our beloved and charming Tyrion has lost his wit. Being in a tough environment where one wrong word and you'll lose your life, has taken a toll on him. Tyrion's point of view used to be the most fun to read, now it's one of the saddest.
It would be great if the book provides more significant progress since it was published 6 years after the fourth book. Well, come on, give the readers something worth the wait (though I don't technically wait for it). Still, no official news on when the sixth book will be published and this one ends with a cliff hanger *sighs*
All right, time for a quote, ladies and gentlemen!
"He's not afraid of anyone, m'lord.""He should be. Fear is what keeps a man alive in this world of treachery and deceit"
4 rating for A Dance with Dragons. I'd give it 5 if only it was filled with more actions. Now I have to sit back and wait for the sixth book. If you are a fantasy lover and haven't touched this series, please do. it's famous for a reason and it's totally different from traditional fantasy novels.
Hmm, I am kind of lost on what to ask you today. Ah, what's a mythical creature that you wish to exist?
